BenZai
Privacy Policy
BenZai is a private app for one family at a time: its meals, chores, shopping, money, learning, games, calls and a chat where each person reads in their own language. This policy says what it collects, why, who else handles it, and how to delete it.

What we collect
- Account: your name and email address. We send a one-time code to the email to sign you in; there is no password.
- What your family puts in the app: messages, voice notes, photos and videos you send; meal plans, recipes, chores, shopping lists, bills, savings, habits and debts between members; lessons and game scores.
- Numbers you choose to track, such as a weight or glasses of water. These can be health-related, and are only ever entered by you.
- Your language, so messages and voices can be translated for you.
- A notification token for each phone you sign in on, so calls and messages can reach it.
- Blocks and reports you make, so a block keeps working and a report can be acted on.
- Microphone and camera only while you record a voice note, take a photo, or are on a call.
We do not collect your location, your contacts, or anything about how you use other apps. BenZai has no advertising and does not sell or share personal data for advertising.
Why
Only to run the app for your family: to deliver messages and calls, translate and read them aloud, plan meals and write recipes, keep lists in sync between phones, and send notifications. Everything you add is visible to the members of the family you add it to.
Messages are not end-to-end encrypted
Everything travels encrypted between your phone and our servers. But to translate a message into someone else’s language, our servers must read it, so messages are not end-to-end encrypted. We are telling you plainly so you can decide what to write.
Calls
Voice and video calls go directly between phones and are encrypted end to end. When a direct connection is impossible, they pass through a relay that carries the encrypted stream but cannot decode it. If captions are on during a call, short slices of what you say are sent for transcription and translation, and are not kept once the caption is made.
Reports
If you report a message or a person, the report — your name, their name, the family, the reason, your note, and a copy of the message — is emailed to us at info@devitify.fr so that someone outside your family can act on it. It is not shown to your family. We keep reports for up to one year, or longer only if the law requires it. The rules everyone agrees to are in the terms of use.
Who else handles your data
We use these services to run BenZai. Each receives only what its job needs.
- Cloudflare — hosting, database, file storage and the call relay.
- Google Firebase Cloud Messaging — delivering notifications to Android phones.
- Anthropic — translating messages, writing recipes and meal suggestions.
- Ghana NLP (Khaya) — translation and speech for Twi, Ewe and Ga.
- ElevenLabs — turning speech into text and text into speech.
- fal.ai — drawing illustrations from dish names and step descriptions; no personal data is sent.
- SendGrid — sending sign-in codes, emails you ask for, and reports to us.
How long we keep it
Until you delete it, or delete your account. Our database keeps a point-in-time recovery history for up to 30 days, after which deleted data is gone from that too.
Deleting your account
In the app: Settings → Delete my account. On the web: sign in at hearth.bernard-3e7.workers.dev/web and do the same. What gets deleted, and what is kept for the family.
Children
BenZai is for adults: accounts are for people aged 18 and over. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has an account, write to info@devitify.fr and we will remove it.
Your rights
You can see and correct most of your data in the app, delete it at any time, and ask us for a copy of it or anything else about your data by writing to info@devitify.fr.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes, and anything that affects how your data is used will be announced in the app first.
